Age UK believes in creating a world where older people can flourish and it is through this vision that we are delighted to support National Family Week. Families, in all their diversity, provide stability for all ages, they provide us with a place to feel safe, to be loved, to learn, to share and to be cared for. However, while celebrating National Family Week we should not let those without these special relationships move far from our thoughts. Millions of older people in the UK are lonely, isolated and cut off from the mainstream. Over half of all people over 75 live alone without the support networks that many of us take for granted. Age UK is inspired by the belief that we can improve the lives of people in later life. This event provides a great opportunity to celebrate families of all shapes and sizes.
