'' Fitter Families is proud to support National Family Week. We aim to encourage families to spend more time together being active, and to encourage each other to live a healthy lifestyle, following our Simple, Achievable, & Sustainable message. We believe our family initiative is well aligned with the goals of the company partner we have found in National Family Week. ''

Inspired by Fit For Sport's work with children in schools, local communities and its work with Ian Wright on his C4 Unfit Kids documentary, Fitter Families initiative is the national voice for educating families on how to incorporate lifestyle habit changes, thorough our unique SAS (Simple, Achievable and Sustainable) approach. We achieve this by engaging families through knowledge exchange, fun activities and support to ensure they adopt and sustain a healthy lifestyle. Fitter Families is the driving force that moves UK Families to improve healthy lifestyles and daily habits. As a catalyst for action, we will encourage lifestyle habit changes through communications and knowledge exchange shared with partners. Planned campaign activities will include:

Fitter Families Challenge:
A fun enablement process to get families more active anywhere - taking away all excuses. The challenge is designed to be a measure of improvement between one set of x3 simple exercises and exactly the same exercises performed a minimum of 12 weeks later. The family achieving the greatest improvement will be deemed to be the fitter family. The family achieving the greatest aggregate score will be deemed to be the fittest family.

2009 Challenges included:

  • Ball Throw and Catch Challenge - Challenge 1 (Co-ordination)
  • Shuttle Runs - Challenge 2 (Speed & Agility)
  • The stand up and sit down exercise - Challenge 3 (Core Strength)

The Road Shows - An Interactive Family Fun Day - Games, Music, Demonstrations, Challenges, Activities and Prizes. Many of our Shows in 2009 were held in partnership with the Masters Football Cup around the UK.
