GMB is expert in the world of work. Over 610,000 UK workers belong to GMB which represents them at work on all matters to with their working lives. GMB is a campaigning trade union with the single purpose of improving the working lives of GMB members in their workplaces and growing the number of GMB members in order to strength the Union's power.

Every day 20,000 volunteer GMB Workplace Representations and GMB full time Organisers do sort out the day to day problems of GMB members at work. GMB is a general union - which means that it represents workers in nearly every job in the UK. GMB has over 610,000 members working in every part of the economy. One in every 32 people at work in the UK is a member of GMB and GMB is organised in 34 of the UK's biggest 50 companies. GMB members are men and women, young and old and retired, working full and part time, and are made up of a wide and diverse cross section of Britain's society.

GMB is expert in every aspect of working life from employment law, health and safety, pensions, pay and conditions of employment including maternity and paternity rights, childcare, equal pay, discrimination and inclusion. GMB has been in existence for over 12 decades and is one of Britain's most powerful and forward looking trade unions. It is made up of a number of unions who have merged over the last 120 years to become GMB - Britain's General Union.

GMB is affiliated to the Labour Party and works with Labour MPs and MEPs to promote improvements in employment law to benefit UK workers.
