Ramblers

'' Walking is one of the most enjoyable and accessible activities there is; it's free, anyone can do it, and it makes you feel really good - mentally and physically. When it comes to family walking, those pleasures and benefits multiply; walking helps children and parents to communicate more and discover new things together, in beautiful scenery. The Ramblers is privileged to be taking part in National Family Week, helping more families experience the joy of walking together through our Get Walking Day events. ''

The Ramblers is the charity at the heart of walking in Britain. If you walk, we are for you. We work to make it easy for everyone to walk, whether in the countryside, cities, hills, the coast, and on and off the beaten track. We are about all sorts of people doing all sorts of walking in all sorts of places.

The Ramblers' Get Walking Day is a celebration of the joy of walking to inspire families and individuals of all ages to go for a walk and hopefully continue walking regularly afterwards.

We hope that Get Walking Day will provide everyone with an opportunity to join an introductory Ramblers' walk in their local area. In addition to Group walks, the Ramblers' Get Walking Keep Walking project will be organising events in urban areas across England. Ramblers Cymru will be working with the Hay Festival to develop 30-minute walking maps and walking bus. Ramblers Scotland will be launching a local community walking hub as part of the Walk Homecoming 2009 initiative.
