National Family Week 2010 was jam-packed with family fun. Thousands of events and activities took place all over the country for your family to enjoy over the summer half term holiday. There was also a whole range of competitions – including The Great Family Giveaway - with over £50,000 worth of prizes to be won, plus a whole host of vouchers and special offers to make spending quality time with your family that bit more affordable.
Monday 31st May
National Family Week kicked off with a nationwide Family Week Picnic on Bank Holiday Monday. Thousands of families joined us to enjoy food and fun al fresco. Eight giant picnics led the way in Barnstaple, Norwich, Clitheroe, Swanage, Hull, Port Talbot, Leicester and London. We also had some great celebrity recipes and picnic tips!
Tuesday 1st June
On Family Week Film Day families could grab a slice of the lights, camera and action with competitions, exclusive screenings and amazing meal and movie deals from Pizza Hut and Vue cinemas. Plus there was an exclusive Family Week preview screening of Shrek Forever After in 3D one month ahead of its general release!


Wednesday 2nd June
Recent research from National Family Week found that the UK's families spend on average over twice as much time in front of the television than they do reading books every week. So to help your family get the reading bug, over 1,000 readings and book signing events took place during National Family Week, with people of all ages, all across the country, sharing the magic of stories.

No summer half-term holiday would be complete without a family day out – but it can cost a fortune. That's why we organised tons of fantastic family deals on theme parks, heritage sites, museums and more. Some of the days out discounts are still available,so check them out...

Friday 4th June
Spending time with the family is boring! That's what kids told us in the National Family Week survey, so Friday 4th June was designated Family Week Games Night. We hope it’s the start of a family tradition when you set aside a night to play games together each week – and here are a few ideas that'll guarantee to have your Games Night rocking with laughter.
Saturday 5th June
Make getting fit more fun by involving the family! On Family Week Sports Day we had a whole range of awesome activities and fun games for all ages, including at eight fantastic flagship events in Nottingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Plymouth, Bath, Hull, Wakefield and Twickenham. And thousands of people helped us to make history to set the Guinness World Record for the Largest Three-Legged-Race!
Sunday 6th June
Sunday was set aside for the Family Week Feast! Sharing a meal together is a great way to spend quality family time and there's nothing like gathering round the dinner table to enjoy the fruits of your own culinary labours. Remember, when it's a family meal there's no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen!
